This new system affects the following occupations:
- security and investigation agents
- building work contractors and supervisors; and
- plumbing, gas fitting and electrical contractors and workers.
Under the new system a Letter of Introduction authorised by the Commissioner for Consumer Affairs is issued to those individuals who are required to have their photo taken. This letter is only provided to you AFTER lodgement of your application for a licence/registration or WITH your annual or periodic return documentation. If you are applying for a replacement card and your image is yet to be captured via the new process, you will also receive a Letter of Introduction shortly after lodging your request. Without this letter you cannot have your photo taken.
Benefits
You will no longer be required to supply photos. Once you have had your image digitally captured we will reuse it each time you lodge your annual or periodic return. (If you hold multiple licences/registrations, the same image will appear on each card).
It will only be necessary to have your photo taken again if your image changes or becomes outdated, (usually every ten years).
Issuing time
Your new photo licence/registration card will be issued within approximately seven (7) to ten (10) working days after your application is approved, or once your annual return or periodic return has been processed.
If a photo is not taken
Your licence/registration will not be issued without your photograph. A photo card is important to identify you to your customers and trade suppliers.
