National Business Name Registration (NBNR)

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) agreed on a national system for registration of business names in July 2008. Subject to the passage of referral legislation through State Parliaments, the national business names registration system is expected to be operational mid 2012. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) will administer the national business names legislation.
