Legal age of marriage

A person is eligible to be married once they have reached the age of 18.

A person under the age of 18, but who has reached the age of 16, may apply to a Judge or a Magistrate for an Order authorising them to marry a person who is of legal age (18). Marriage to a minor cannot be solemnised without consent from the parents of the minor.

A person who has not previously been married, and who is a minor, can not marry unless the following is produced to the person who is solemnising the marriage:
