There are many tools that people with a disability can use to assist them in accessing the Internet. Accessible technology enables individuals to adjust their computers to meet their visual, hearing, dexterity, cognitive and speech needs. It includes both accessibility options built into products as well as specialty hardware and software products (assistive technology products) that help individuals interact with a computer.
In-depth information about accessibility can be found at the W3C Accessibility Guidelines http://www.w3.org/WAI/intro/wcag.php
We are continually upgrading the OCBA website to ensure that the greatest proportion of people can access and understand information contained on this site. Some of the functionality of the site is as follows.
- Alternate text tags (ALT tags) describe the function of each visual image
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) ensure layout and style consistency
- Plain language throughout the site minimises jargon and unnecessary complexity
- Pages are print-friendly
- Breadcrumbing helps navigation
- Content is easy to scan
- There are transcripts of audio files where possible, and/or the information is available in other formats
- All links and PDFs identify their destination.
Most of our material is available as HTML web pages but some large publications and reports are PDF files. The intention is to provide a high quality document for printing. PDF files always open in a new window.
If you are hearing impaired, you may not be able to access our audio files. There are transcripts available for the audio files, except for the radio interviews. The information given in the radio interviews is available in written form in other areas of the website.
If you find this site difficult to use please contact us and let us know what we can do to make it more accessible for you.
