Assurances given in 2011

Please note: The following matters have not been the subjects of court findings. Therefore, the allegations that have given rise to the assurances have not been proven in a court of law. The traders gave the assurances voluntarily after investigations by Consumer and Business Services staff of complaints against them.

Will refrain from entering into domestic building work contracts that are not in the prescribed format. Will refrain from requesting deposits that are not of a type authorised by the Act. Will refrain from failing to take out a policy of building indemnity insurance.

Will refrain from carrying on business as a security agent whilst not appropriately licensed, and will refrain from holding himself out as being entitled to carry on business as a security agent, whilst not appropriately licensed.

Will refrain from making a false or misleading representation concerning the existence, exclusion or effect of any condition, warranty, guarantee, right or remedy as per section 58(k) of the Fair Trading Act 1987.

Will refrain from carrying on a business as an electrical contractor in cotnravention of section 4(3)(a) and 4(3)(b) of the Plumbers Gasfitters and Electricians Regulations 1995, and section 6(1)(a) of the Plumbers Gasfitters and Electricians Act 1995.
